NEARI Training Center offers programs for professionals who work with high-risk youth in residential, day and public school settings and after-school programs. Training programs address issues of behavior management, intervention, and brain-based learning and counseling.
The cornerstone of the training program is a 10-day certificate program (syllabus) for professionals working with children and youth with sexual behavior problems.

Research over the past twenty years has provided dramatic insight into the understanding of sexually aggressive behavior. The number of specialized treatment programs responding to this behavior has increased, as has the number of practitioners faced with the task of providing successful interventions. The need for comprehensive sex offense-specific training, clinical supervision, consultation, program evaluation and credentialing have also increased. The Academic Certificate Program for the Treatment of Youthful Sexual Aggression is designed to meet this need.
This Certificate Program is committed to creating and providing practical training, consultation and evaluation based upon findings at the leading edge of research and organized through the following assumptions and beliefs:
The Academic Certificate Program provides intensive course work equivalent to a university curricula. In addition to 60 direct contact hours of training, the curricula provides a competency-based process for evaluating clinical skills and abilities. Participants use textbooks representing current research in the field to facilitate their learning process.
The Academic Certificate Program has been recognized and accepted as part of state credentialing requirements and as elective coursework in a variety of graduate programs for social work, psychology, and marriage and family therapy.
All participants engage in a collaborative learning experience designed to meet the unique goals of each service provider. Personnel from a variety of disciplines are challenged to integrate material into the context of their work setting and job duties. Participants are offered an exceptional opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from around the United States and visitors from foreign countries. The academic experience is enhanced by the rich diversity of participants who share a wide range of experience in a variety of treatment settings.
